Investment Strategy

Pender Growth Fund is an established fund with assets of approximately $24 million. Our diversified portfolio has been built on a forward thinking investment strategy designed to provide high returns and market liquidity.

The Fund concentrates on investments in small but solid businesses in BC’s rapidly growing technology sector.

The strategy of Pender Growth Fund is to single out and monitor sound businesses selling proven products with a competitive edge that address large markets. We search for undervalued companies which have significant potential for growth. We often find them in what we call the "Pender Value Zone", an area of the market where companies can find themselves orphaned and therefore undervalued by the market. Since they are trading for significantly less than their intrinsic value, we can buy them at a "discount". This "discount" provides a margin of safety that helps to minimize the risk of the investment and maximize the potential return.

To further mitigate the risks of investing in technology, the Fund avoids start-ups. It focuses on companies in proven markets, selling proven products that are generating steady revenues having moved beyond the early, riskier stages of growth.

Once we invest in a company, we take an active role with management to develop its business and enhance its value to achieve long-term capital appreciation for investors.
