David Barr, CEO and portfolio manager at PenderFund appeared on BNN Bloomberg “The Close” where he discussed key tailwinds for small-cap Canadian companies in 2025, especially in the technology sector. The Pender Small Cap Opportunities Fund is up more than 45% year-to-date.
“We’ve had this wonderful seven stock party that’s been going on for several years now and it’s led to extended valuations in large caps and so people are searching for what’s next and they’re searching in the small cap space.”
He discusses the impact of the incoming US administration on both small caps and M&A activity, as well as highlighting several attractive Canadian firms, including Kraken Robotics, Kinaxis, Lightspeed Commerce and Terravest.
