Dave Barr joined Merella Fernandez on BNN Bloomberg's The Close today to talk about the Canadian small cap universe.

Dave touched on how Canadian small caps compare to US small caps at the moment and whether small caps would benefit from rate cuts.

When asked about key themes for Pender in the small cap space, he brought up energy infrastructure, grid stability and energy transition, "...in Canada we punch way above our weight in renewables...we've got a lot of great technology companies in this space."

He gave two security selections, $Tantalus (GRID) and $5N PLUS (VNP), and dropped in "under the radar" Coveo (CVO) near the end.

Generally speaking, "...when we see tailwinds and big capital flowing into spaces, that's where we want to be, because that's where the puck is going and that's where we think we can make money for the next 5 to 10 years."
